This is a brief overview of us and our general philosophy. The page has been written in anticipation of further input from the many kumara on the kumara vine. The main thing is we have a presence in cyber-space! Taakina te kawa!

Te Kaupapa

Hauhake is a collective for Maori in REAP. The motivation for a Maori caucus was given voice at the Annual Conference, held in Turanganui-a-Kiwa in 2003. REAPers decided that it was time to make some changes in the way things were going and the idea of getting together as Maori, to support one another, to discuss our needs and aspirations and to address the needs of our clients came to the fore.

Since that time, we have pondered ... and reflected... and thought ... and wondered what was happening. Well, folks here it is! The Hauhake website! courtesy of tutunui, tuturoa, tutupamamao! Obviously, this is JUST THE BEGINNING!

The next step is to get moving, and it behoves us to consider that famous Rongowhakaata ancestor, Confucius, when he said,

"The greatest journey begins with one small step"!

To find out what we can do, follow this link - KOKIRI!

Hauhake is Us

Hauhake is the collective voice of all of us who identify as Maori, in REAP. It is significant for your voice to be heard, that your opinion is included and that your views are considered. Hauhake will be successful when we do three things:

    1. establish our group in each district

    2. establish our communication systems

    3. talk to each other

Again, for more information, follow this link - KOKIRI!

When we have achieved this, Hauhake will be successful. Let's work on that before Te Hui-a-Tau!

The next stage of development for each region is to identify their professional development needs. this is most easily accomplished by completing a SWOT analysis and then breaking that down. For more information on the SWOT, click SWOT,  and then move on to the Professional Development page.

The proposed strategic development plan can be seen by clicking Te Rautaki. Further information regarding this will be added when we have had a chance to talk a little more about it.
